From the Coal Mines to the Board Room chronicles the life of Addie L. Greene, the daughter of a black Alabama coal miner. Growing up in the forties and fifties she was surrounded by racism, poverty, and exploitation. Addie longed to escape from the confining spaces of the mining towns and move to a place where she could reach her full potential.
The path to finding herself wasn’t easy, and Addie struggled throughout college. And yet despite all the obstacles she faced in love, life, and work, Addie persevered, always ready to move heaven and earth to get what she wanted. Through talent, luck, and sheer force of will, Addie took the challenging leap into politics and is now a success by any measure. Filled with tenacity and hope, From the Coal Mines to the Board Room is a powerful read about rising above your circumstances to make your dreams come true.
