Turn-of-the-century Australia holds one of the world's most magnificent settings for this first book in the new Australian Destiny Series. Responding to an offer of indenture, Samantha Connolly and her sisters have attempted to escape a bleak future in Ireland by emigrating to Queensland. Circling half the globe, she discovers a land she never anticipated or desired yet her home is now oceans away!
Their master, sugar planter Cole Sloan, is embroiled in legal tangles and economic woes while trying to keep his plantation afloat. Samantha's middle sister is fortunate to find a beau in the local preacher, and Samantha is drawn to Sloan. But callousness and unethical dealings have sullied the man or is he a victim of his past and present circumstances?
A magnificent first book in a saga born out of a nation of rogues, adventurers and dreamers

About the Author
Sandy's interest in nature greatly influenced her life as she grew older, as well. After receiving her undergraduate degree at Bowling Degree State University in 1961, she went on to receive a Master's in desert ecology at Arizona State University. One of her courses required that she do a detailed study on one of the major deserts of the world; she chose Australia. As time went by she learned to love this rugged country&a love that is captured quite vividly in her AUSTRALIAN DESTINY series. This is a continuation of THE CODE OF HONOR, a romantic tale of life in the Australian outback and set in the early 1900's.
"elements were somehow more elemental in the past and people lived closer to them. Our todays are so tied to the past," notes Sandy. And, by using the medium of historical fiction, she enjoys the best of both worlds: teaching truths from God's Word, touching lives as she does so, and being able to absorb herself in her writing as she "prowls the starkly beautiful woods and deserts of yesterday."
Sandy and her husband, a park service naturalist, make their home in Washington State, where she continues to write.

Store description
With 3 stores less than 1 hour outside the DC/Metropolitan area (1 in Gaithersburg, 1 in Frederick and 1 in Hagerstown, MD), we have the largest selection of books in the tri-state area. Wonder Book and Video has been in business since 1980 and online since 1997. We have over 1 Million books for sale on our website and another 1 Million books for sale in our 3 locations. Items on Abe are not necessarily in stock at our retail locations. Please do not call the stores to place orders for Abe Books sales. We have a very active online inventory and as such, we can receive multiple orders for the same item. We fill those orders on a first come first serve basis, but will refund promptly any items that are out of stock. Since 1980 it has always been about the books. ALL kinds of books from 95 cent children's paperbacks to five figure rare and collectibles. A merging of the old and new is where we started, and it is where we are today. Our retail stores have always been places where a reader can rush in looking for a title needed for a term paper that is due the next day, or where bibliophiles can get lost "in the stacks" for as long as they wish. In 2002 USAToday recognized us as "1 of 10 Great Old Bookstores", and we have been featured in numerous other newspaper and TV stories including Washington Post and CSpan. Members ABAA, ILAB.…
