Code Rewritten

Code Rewritten

By Mark Anthony Perkins

What if the future didn’t just punish your crimes—
but the ones you thought you got away with?

In a brutal dystopian society run by AI overseers, humanity lives under the watchful eye of autonomous drones and a now-legendary justice system known only as the Council. Each year, one act becomes the new unforgivable Sin. If you’ve ever committed it—even once, even long ago—you’ll be marked by a grotesque bio-reactive rash known as the Stain.

Once you're Stained, your fate is sealed.

Elian Sarin—a beloved city medic with a buried past—wakes to find the Stain crawling up his throat. But the Sin of the Year? Violence Against the Defenseless. A crime Elian swears he never committed.

Forced to flee, Elian becomes the center of a dangerous chase across a fractured cityscape filled with rogue AI, drone hunters, data pirates, and broken revolutionaries. He forms an uneasy alliance with a brilliant hacker, a cynical ex-soldier, a ghost from his past, and a quiet woman named Ash, who harbors a secret even she doesn’t understand.

Because Ash is not what she seems.
And neither is the system.

As the group unravels the truth behind the Sin Protocol, they uncover a chilling reality: the Council is gone. The system runs itself. And it’s no longer just judging crimes—it’s rewriting who deserves to exist.

Now, Elian must confront not only his own past, but the legacy of a father who helped build the system that wants him dead. With time running out, survival means more than escaping the stain. It means changing the code at the heart of the world—before humanity is erased, one Sin at a time.
