📚 Code Tales series is designed to empower students to identify and explain key ethical principles and their application to emerging technologies through storytelling, creating digital artefacts, and unplugged activities. So as students’ progress through their education, it is important to recognize and explore the development of these skills.

💻 Isn't Digital Literacy the same as Computer Literacy?
The three pillars of digital literacy include, (a) finding and consuming digital content, (b) creating digital content, and (c) the ability to share and communicate it effectively.
Students will create a digital portfolio showcasing their understanding of ethical principles and their application to emerging technologies.

In this learning strand, we will explore the concept of empathy in digital spaces and learn about cyberbullying and how to promote kindness online. Navigating an increasingly connected world, it is crucial to understand and practice these virtues to foster positive digital communities. While social media tools offer unprecedented opportunities for connection, they also create environments where empathy can be easily forgotten, and perceived anonymity can sometimes lead to behavior that would not occur in face-to-face situations.

Tweens create Ethical Tale based games and animations on MIT Scratch3.0 coding platform, one of the most popular programs in primary schools on the National curriculum. To create the games in this book, children will need a desktop computer or a laptop. The games require a proper keyboard so will not work well on a tablet or iPad. It is recommended that children should be supervised when using the internet, especially when using a new website.

Students learn about cyberbullying and positive online interactions. They explore features of social media and apps to spread kindness or prevent bullying and learn about tech accessibility to promote inclusivity.

Students analyze “The Elephant and the Tailor” They discuss how the story's themes relate to online interactions and social media behavior. Students also practice writing supportive and empathetic messages for various online scenarios.

🏇 Social-Emotional Learning: Empathy, kindness, bullying prevention
Students develop empathy skills and strategies for promoting kindness online. They engage in role-playing exercises to understand different perspectives in online interactions. Students also learn techniques for managing emotions when faced with negative online experiences.
