Synopsis

In many real-world programming applications, we are often required to solve multitasking problems. This requires our program to multitask. Instead of having multitasking operating system to run multiple application programs, some processing systems, which can be found in embedded applications, only execute one application program at a time in sequential instruction execution mode. How do we multitask our code in such system? Knowing the above challenge, this book considers text-based coding method for multitasking program without the need of operating system. It should also be of interest to readers who wish to code using simple and orderly code structure. Given a flowchart of multitasking program, the method provides systematic approach for readers to code their program. Besides its compatibility to various platform with or without operating system, the method is transparent to programming language used. After concepts and explanations, examples in various scenarios are given to illustrate the programming method. Hence, it is also suitable for use as reference book to develop training material for programming lessons.

About the Author

Eik Fun Khor, Ph.D (Electrical and Computer Engineering), B.Eng (Electrical Engineering) has programming-related experience, in terms of developing program as well as coaching programming knowledge and skills, for more than 20 years. He has worked with research and development (R&D) environments in industry, research institutes, universities and educational institute. He has published 2 books (including this one), 12 international journals (2 IEEE Transactions) and 16 international conference papers in area of computational intelligence. He was a reviewer for various publications such as IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, European Journal of Operational Research, International Conference on Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization, IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control, International Journal of Systems Science etc.
