About the Author: Author Inge Schaefer started Colchester's first newspaper, the Colchester Chronicle, in 1985 and the town's first magazine, the Colchester News Magazine, in 1995. She now writes a weekly column for the Colchester Sun. Schaefer has thoughtfully chosen images drawn from private and public collections to illustrate the history of the land, the lake, and the people that have for generations defined Colchester.
