Capote had already established his reputation with the likes of Other Voices, Other Rooms and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Having learned of the murder of the Clutter family in an article in the New York Times, Capote traveled to Holcomb, KS and spent months there with Harper Lee, whose novel To Kill a Mockingbird was later published to international acclaim. The book took six years to complete and first appeared in serial form in four issues of the New Yorker, beginning in September 1965. Original maroon cloth.
