'Clive Powell-Williams has produced a gripping story whose pathos is only outdone by its morbid fascination.' Daily Mail
A tragic expedition in the last years of the 'Age of Heroes'.
Over the winter of 1926-27, Jack Hornby led a lunatic expedition to the freezing Barren Lands of the Canadian North-West territories. The two men he took with him on this doomed journey were his naive 18 year old cousin, Edgar Christian, and a young friend, Harold Adlard. All three men died of starvation. Two years later a Mounties patrol found the cabin and the bodies. They also found Edgar's diary and letters stashed in the stove - his final act of courage.
