ABOUT: Collapse Volume VII: Culinary Materialism is a 600‑plus‑page philosophical anthology that treats cookery as a site of material, cultural, scientific, and even cosmic inquiry. Rather than approaching food through the usual lenses of gastronomy, food culture, or culinary trends, the volume asks a more radical question: What is the nature of the culinary itself? The editors and contributors explore cookery as a material practice of synthesis, transformation, and experimentation, drawing on disciplines as wide-ranging as: - Anthropology - Chemistry - Hermetic alchemy - Contemporary mathematics - Physiology - Industrial and cultural history - Art and architecture (including Gordon Matta‑Clark).
