The book is in 5 sections:sound transmission in buildings; measurement methods; sources of sound and vibration; vibration isolation; lightweight building structures. The papers were selected on the basis of their rigor, their citation history and their contribution to the science and practice of building acoustics. Thus the book addresses relevant topics such as the subjective and objective of noise, the need for acceptable sound insulation within lightweight buildings, vibration isolation in respect both of external noise and vibration and of internal mechanical services, among others.
