The twelfth volume of The Collected Works of Langston Hughes contains Hughes's collections of biographies for children and young adults—Famous American Negroes, Famous Negro Music Makers, and Famous Negro Heroes of America—gathered together for the first time. Steven C. Tracy is Associate Professor of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He is the author or editor of four books, numerous articles and reviews, and CD liner notes dealing with American and African American literature and folklore. He is also a recorded blues performer.
