17 pages of verse, one done for Mr. Chittick, Lit. 21, Feb. 7, 1935, probably while at Reed College, others not dated. Another, "For Morris R. Cohen" has manuscript note on back. One titled "From a Naval Hospital; some notes on remembering Pearl Harbor", 5 pages, is a typed carbon. Edge worn, some tears. Read (1916-82) wrote books on various rivers, including the Arkansas and San Antonio, on changing neighborhoods, and on San Francisco restaurants. From 1975-82 he wrote a Food Column "The Underground Gourmet" for the San Francisco Examiner.
