Born in Amsterdam 1901-1973, he was a Dutch journalist and came from the socialist Jewish family of diamond cutter Mozes Sluijser. became an interpreter at international socialist meetings and in 1929, became editor of the social-democratic daily Het Volk . Sluyser fought all forms of dictatorship : communism , fascism and, especially after Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933 , the Nazis . After the German invasion and capitulation, Sluyser and his family escaped from IJmuiden to England on 15 May 1940 and became chief of the Radio Listening Service of the Dutch government in London and of the London-based Free Netherlands . In November 1944 he returned to the liberated South Netherlands. He became one of the founders of the daily Het Vrije Volk and provided weekly commentary on the news . He also had a column at De Groene Amsterdammer . After his return to Amsterdam, he would write a series of books, especially about the Jewish past of Amsterdam (as found here). re Wikipedia Sold as a lot.
