18 cm x 11.5 cm viii + 220 pages frontis of Ladythorne House, plate before half title (no title) pencil note below in a hand which is hard to decipher "The Smith Image supposed to be the image of wellington ? --- D Cornell .22 vignettes by Bewick in text. Text pages evenly browned ,recent blue cloth binding.Copac list 2 holdings for the 1839 edition calling for 1 leaf of plates.There was a later edition in 1842. Hugo in 'The Bewick Collector' 503 describes the edition of 1842.THe Geoffry Norton copy lot 67 Bloomsbury Sale March 2002 notes engraved frontis and half title.
