49 manuscript receipts of various sizes for equipment and labor related to gold mining operations in Hall County, Georgia in 1831-1832. Generally very good condition, with some soiling and wear. Some of the receipts are lengthy, listing 20 or more items, though most are on smaller slips with only one to three items. The longer lists can include a wide variety of materials needed in the field, such as shovel, skillets, candlestick, coffee, and other foodstuffs and implements. Some items are receipts for money paid to laborers. The Elrod mine was among the most prominent of the Georgia Gold Rush which had begun in 1828. This group gives a good look at the provisioning and expenses of a mining operation there.
