This is a Rare Antique Softcover Pocket-Sized Book published apparently as a guide for Freemasons. The softcover can be secured by a button snap which works great.

The text of the book is not written in plain English. It appears to be shorthand or a code of some sort which incorporates symbols along with letters. See pics.

The book is in outstanding condition after 110 years. The binding is tight with no loose or missing pages. The marbled endpapers are faded a bit but still very nice. The only mark observed is a number written in pencil on the title page.

The covers show wear consistent with the book's age including a split between the front cover and the spine (but the softcover is tight along the spine), some chipping and scuffs along the spine and the edges, creases here and there and some wear on the button closure. See pics.

There is a short split at the bottom between the front flyleaf and the title page, but the pages are still attached to the spine. There is a bit of browning/tanning, and there are some small dark spots and/or stains in a few places.

This intriguing, mysterious book would be an excellent addition to any antiquarian library and especially to a collection of works related to Freemasonry.
