The Salem Press Company, MA. Autobiography of the Pennsylvania abolitionist who helped swing the state to Abraham Lincoln during the 1860 Republican National Convention. His home, in Chambersburg, was burned by Confederates during their 1864 raid. In 1862 McClure was commissioned a major as an assistant adjutant general. Some chapters include, Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, The Battle of Broderick, Baker and McKibbin to Hold The Pacific Region to the Union; Sheridan and Jackson, the Great Lieutenants of the War; Alexander Stephens, One of the Ablest and Most Unique of Southern Leaders; etc. Good+ copy of the first edition. No dust jacket. There is some glue, from the binder, staining on the back end pages. Previous owners plate on the front end page. Gilded page tops. 502 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 16306
