The amazingly long, full title of "Daniel Defoe's picaresque novel "Colonel Jack" is "The History and Remarkable Life of the truly Honourable Col. Jacque, commonly call'd Col. Jack, who was Born a Gentleman, put 'Prentice to a Pick?Pocket, was Six and Twenty Years a Thief, and then Kidnapp'd to Virginia, Came back a Merchant; was Five times married to Four Whores; went into the Wars, behav'd bravely, got Preferment, was made Colonel of a Regiment, came over, and fled with the Chevalier, is still abroad compleating a Life of Wonders, and resolves to dye a General." ( ! ).
"Colonel Jack" was first published in 1722. This1947 edition was issued in "The Novel Library" by Hamish Hamilton. It is handsomely quarter-bound with a substantial cloth spine and colorful paper-covered boards. This copy still has its dust-jacket.

CONDITION -- BOOK : VERY GOOD --- JACKET : GOOD PLUS -- This is a previously owned book which remains, clean, attractive and serviceable, with the following imperfections and particulars noted ::
EXTERIOR : Clean and bright with negligible signs of handling; text-block edges are slightly weathered , else clean.
BINDING : Tight
INTERIOR : Considerable foxing to end-papers (more so at back) ; this seems to be a post-war production issue - I've tried to show this in two views, but it was difficult to get the foxing to appear properly; else the interior is clean and free of marking, free of writing, and with no signatures.
DUST - JACKET : Spine panel is slightly toned (darkened); surface rub is modest; a touch of crimping to top edge at head of spine panel, with accompanying small closed tear (hence the jacket rating), which has been neatly mended on blank side of jacket; Jacket still has original publisher's price on front flap.
