Item description from seller

New York: Frank F. Lovell and Company, 1889. This is a Very Good copy of an early printing, most likely an American pirate edition. Marooncloth binding with fancy decorations stamped in black; titling on the spine within a gilt label. It is designated on the front as "Sterling Edition." Clean text; 280 pages. First published in the UK in 1888. There is no publication date, but there is only a two-year option, as this Lovell only existed from 1888 to 1890, when he merged with his brother's operation. Quercus chooses the earlier possibility. Typical of American reprint houses and pirates pirates of the era, the nice covers contain cheap wood-pulp paper; while perfectly legiblr, the textblock is tanned. Light rubbing to the margins, heavier at the head and foot of the spine. In an archival plastic protector. Later Printing. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
