Original publisher's beige paper-covered boards with a blue and olive-yellow color illustration on front cover of people reading books and wearing what appear to be Renaissance-era clothes. Decorative olive-yellow rectangle on back. Black lettering on brown (originally beige) spine. 8" x 10 3/4." Pages 195-304, complete. Black-and-white illustrations and occasional accents of color, complete. Advertisements for books, bookstores, and similar items and businesses in the back. Pages and covers are very clean and intact overall. Binding is tight. Slight rubbing to covers and spine. Slight bumping to corners and parts of the edges. Boards have light age toning throughout. Spine was beige but is now browned. Front cover has some browning. A Very Good, almost Near Fine copy. Back colophon: "This Part Seven of the Second Volume of The New Colophon published by Duschnes Crawford, Inc. at New York, continues the franchise of the original Colophon established in 1928 and published by the Pynson Printers, Inc. at New York. The New Colophon was printed by E. L. Hildreth & Company at Brattleboro, Vermont for 2500 subscribers, September 1949." The New Colophon was a quarterly book collectors' periodical that was published from 1948-1950. It was the successor toThe Colophon which had been established in 1928 by Elmer Adler (1884-1962), the founder of Pynson Printers in New York City.
