Color Vision is a comprehensive examination of color perception in both normal and color defective individuals. Organized around the opponent-process theory, it provides a descriptive and quantitative account of the visual system in relation to its neurophysiology and photochemistry and describes the experimental research and theory that have contributed to our understanding of the color experience. Great care has been taken to provide a book that is both highly readable and scientifically rigorous. In the interest of continuity, the text is written with a coherent story line, uninterrupted by multiple sub topical headings. The chapters are profusely cross-referenced to emphasize the relatedness of individual topics, and important terms are defined when they first appear. Where appropriate, simple demonstrations are provided to show how to compare and modify color appearance. A combination of 25 color plates and 180 black and white illustrations and graphs provide visual examples of specific color experiences or clarify the more difficult quantitative discussions.
