About the Author

David R. Holland is an award-winning veteran journalist of more than 30 years and a journalism graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He�s been on the sports staff of The Dallas Morning News and Waco-Tribune Herald in Texas, as well as freelancing for The Dallas Cowboys Weekly and United Press International covering the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks. He founded and published Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Football Magazine for almost 20 years and co-hosted a radio talk show on the Texas State Network about the frenzy that is Texas High School football.

But one career wasn�t enough for Holland. After serving on active duty in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, he finished a 28-year career in the reserves, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In Colorado, he worked at the Air Force Academy. As a member of the Texas Air National Guard he volunteered for Desert Storm and concluded his service in the Air Force Reserve with two years active duty in Monterey, California working on a special Pentagon project that deterred fraud in the Department of Defense.

That military stint in one of the world�s greatest golf locations got him thinking about his next career move -- travel golf writing. Over the past six years, Holland, a Colorado resident for 20 years, has probably published more travel golf stories than any other writer in the industry as a senior writer for TravelGolf.com and a contributing editor for Colorado AvidGolfer Magazine.
