But one career wasn’t enough for Holland. After serving on active duty in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, he finished a 28-year career in the reserves, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In Colorado, he worked at the Air Force Academy. As a member of the Texas Air National Guard he volunteered for Desert Storm and concluded his service in the Air Force Reserve with two years active duty in Monterey, California working on a special Pentagon project that deterred fraud in the Department of Defense.
That military stint in one of the world’s greatest golf locations got him thinking about his next career move -- travel golf writing. Over the past six years, Holland, a Colorado resident for 20 years, has probably published more travel golf stories than any other writer in the industry as a senior writer for TravelGolf.com and a contributing editor for Colorado AvidGolfer Magazine.
