The Colors of Love

"The Colors of Love" Treasured wisdom on the family. One of the finest books of its kind to appear in recent times. Parents will want this book, not only to read for themselves from cover to cover, but to read to their children to create the warm family love so insightfully described on page after page. We have long known that Black wisdom informs much of the most profound thinking on the family. It has taken the insight and devotion of Alan J. Inman to gather this wisdom in one place. "If you can't run your own house, you can't run the White House...so we've adjusted our schedules to make sure that our girls are first... I get them off, I go and do trips, I'm home before bedtime...They just know that I was at home to tuck them in at night, and it keeps them grounded, and children, the children in our country, have to know that they come first." -Michelle Obama, First Lady. Alan Inman develops a biographical profile of his life in "The Colors of Love" that presents the different shades. Some of it is bright and wonderful while other parts show the stark reality of a black man that had to confront a life of inter-generational fatherlessness. The heart that Inman developed through this experience ultimately led him to become the national director of the Institute for Responsible Fatherhood & Family Revitalization. His commentary reflects his own life's episodic experience as it is juxtaposed with different disciplines associated with African American History. Inman adds a compilation of quotes on family he selects from notable personalities of African American History providing the reader with the lens of both a contemporary & historical context of family life. "The Colors of Love" is a book that can find itself just as comfortably in school libraries as a reference document as it would be in a home for inspirational reading by families or as a rich source of material for speeches or lectures.
