Cindy Wider grew up in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea with very few toys available to her. Nature and imagination became her playground as she spent the early years of her childhood gathering clay from the river banks and building bamboo cubby houses in the colourful tropical gardens that surrounded her home. At the age of 11 years Cindy returned with her family to live in Australia on her grandfather’s dairy farm where she continued to find inspiration in nature and the isolation of outback Australia. Cindy resided in Australia from 1979 until 2013 when she moved to West Yorkshire in the United Kingdom along with her husband Stuart Wider (also an artist) and their two young daughters. Cindy is an internationally recognised art curriculum author with over 24 years of experience working in the art industry as a full-time professional artist and art educator. Cindy is the author of the CPD Accredited ‘Complete Drawing Certificate Course' and creator of the 'Cindy Wider Method'; a unique method of rapidly learning to draw by refining skills that most people already possess. She is also the author of the five books; ‘Paint In Your Pyjamas’, ’12 Coloured Pencil Techniques’, ‘12 Charcoal Techniques’, ‘Six Pencil Techniques’ and ‘Action Painting Workshop’. Cindy and husband Stuart owned and operated the largest privately owned ongoing art school on the Queensland Sunshine Coast, Australia where Cindy taught her unique methods to 80 people a week for four years prior to moving into internet-based art education.
