The map covers most of Europe except for northern Scandanavia. There is an inset map at the top left which was likely the major reason for the publication of this map, Map of the Seat of War, which shows in greater detail Northern Italy, the site of the Second Italian War of Independence, also known as the Austro-Sardinian War or Franco-Austrian War. This inset map is fully colored by region within the kingdoms of northern Italy. This war was a major event in Giuseppe Garibaldi's rise to leadership across Italy. OCLC 793035260 (2 loc.).
