About the Authors:
J. Michael Adams became Fairleigh Dickinson University's sixth president on July 1, 1999, following 15 years as an academic dean at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He previously was a professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego. Dr. Adams is President of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) and is an IAUP representative to the United Nations. He also serves on the UN/IAUP Commission on Disarmament Education, Conflict Resolution and Peace, as well as the national council of the United Nations Association of the United States of America. Dr. Adams holds a B.S. from Illinois State University, Normal; an M.S. from University of Illinois, Urbana; and a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Angelo Carfagna is an award-winning writer, editor, communications consultant and international affairs and media studies scholar. He has worked on behalf of higher education for 13 years. As the director of communications and special projects for Fairleigh Dickinson University, he has worked closely with Dr. Michael Adams to promote and garner attention for the University's global mission. The two are frequent partners on various projects focusing on global education and world citizenship. He holds a B.A. from Montclair State University and an M.A. in political science from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
