Chapter One
The Song of the PoetA poet I live,
A poet I'll die,
If life's an illusion
Death is a lie!
A life of the spirit
And only of the spirit
Will I lead,
What else is there to live for
If spirit be the seed?
A Moment of Eternity
Let poetry not die in me,
Let moments of eternity
Awaken thoughts of beauty deep
Within me, let me never sleep
Buried in earth's stupor strong
And weary as its days are long,
For in the crowdedness of man's
Actions blind there is a hand
In secret guides the windblown soul
To islands where life shows the whole
Scope of what awaits the one
Whose gaze is fixed upon the sun -
In one foul swoop tomorrow glows,
Where shadows were God's garden grows ...
The Master
Since I was just a child
I saw Him in my dreams,
I saw Him all around me,
In everyone He seemed
To be the soft and gentle light
That hides within our tears
And like the sun ashining
Suddenly appears
From behind a veil of clouds
And nothing seems as bright -
God upon the mountain
Has looked down on the night
To bring to us a moment
Of truth and beauty deep,
His presence in us felt as One
Rising from His sleep,
Shedding on us hues of peace
And ease and harmony,
Love's sweetness spreading joy to all
And setting us free!
The Hour of the Unexpected
Where desire dies is the door to paradise,
The entry to the country of the soul,
Threshold to the fire far deeper and much higher
And a bliss that is the kiss that makes us whole
In a way we can't imagine until we cross the margin
Dividing us from who we really are
To find the silent mind where man no longer blind
Can be himself and fly beyond the stars
Where he may one day be what now he cannot see,
A superman whose life is free from sorrow,
In control of fate, immortality his state,
Eternity the key to his tomorrow,
A future full of light that plays beyond the heights
Where angels sing the song that never dies,
For man is after all God's answer to the fall,
The phoenix from the ashes of the lies
Served to all mankind from the beginning of time,
The great deceit defeating our kind,
But truth is now prevailing, the hour is unveiling
The unexpected miracle divine!
A Vision of the Heart
Every moment that I live is a moment of the past,
Life is flying by, time is moving fast,
No time is there to wander, no time is there to waste,
The promise over yonder in the future is the taste
Of bliss beyond belief, a higher nature calls,
A pressure from above was the reason for the Fall,
I couldn't understand why lower things attract,
The wiser and the stronger from greater things detract
To walk the darkened alleys of the chaos of the Earth
But their walk it is to nobler things gives birth,
For they are the Kings and Queens whose pact unfolds
The mysteries of life with bodies made of gold!
The wondrous day approaches of darkness at its end,
The magic of the Light unshadowed now intends
To throw the cloak of darkness back into its source
Whence the New arises, the miracle of Force
And Beauty in combining become the arms of Love
Embracing all below and raising all above
Till everyone on Earth is lifted from the Old
And welcomed to the paradisial gardens made of gold ...
Because they Care
In moments quiet and alone
When one sits weary of the world,
Life's burden put aside and thoughts
Are left to wander where they will,
It's time to close your eyes and weep
The tears away that don't belong
To one's own heart but come from pain
Released in love - compassion's rain
It is that floods
The deep and endless space within
One's soul where all things come to rest
In calm so vast ... within, without
The universe speaks its secrets to
Those who know ... because they care.
The End
My soul journeys back to its birth,
Body and soul I was born of that earth
Whose forefathers ancient guided my way
From the old to the new, their wisdom today
Beckons me back where the spirit has sway
Over all other things and common things lay
Silent before the power of soul
Without whose governance nothing is whole -
Soul is everything, Spirit is king
In the land of the Ancients whose devotees sing
Of the miracle of life eternal and things
Immortal are commonplace, everyday brings
A sense of the old and the new and beyond
Something yet other pressing the ground
To change and become a basis for peace,
Joy universal, everlasting ease,
True love to rule everyone's life,
A new way to live - the end of all strife!
Utopean Dream
A chance to live the life I want,
A hope to make a dream come true,
The promise of a greater dawn,
A pressure from beyond the blue
To change all things of mortal mould,
To let the golden light unfold
The mystery and the beauty hid
Within the earth, our bodies old
Transformed, outpouring endless bliss
Received from being's source above,
All around is felt the kiss
Of heaven and immortal love
Becomes the order of the day
In gardens that prepared the way
Where Angels sing, as children play,
Of a new world here to stay!
The Call
Only the heart knows the way,
Only true love sheds light
When all is said and done - today
Is the moment to cast out the night
Blinds us and with it surrender
The ego that thinks it knows all,
Nothing is known till we render
The blow to the self and we fall
From the heights of our rotting vanities
Piled up in front of the door
Opens onto infinity,
The timeless, the bliss evermore,
The peace everlasting, the life
Calling to us from beyond
The grave of our past and the strife
With which we no longer bond!
The Inner Sense
There are worlds that move among us
And through which we move,
Those that mean to harm us
And others improve
Our way of life, the way we love,
The things we do,
Subtle are the ways of things above
The daily gruel,
For these worlds can change intent
When recognized,
It pays to know that such deceit
Can't fool the wise
Become from years of pain
And innocence,
Simple is the truth, the golden rain,
The inner sense
With which we all are blessed
To choices make
Leading us to where all rests,
Is yet awake
So that love and joy and peace
Are felt as true
And life's a breeze of spontaneous ease
For me and you....
Be Yourself !
The two ends of bliss,
The earthly and the spiritual kind,
In another place kiss
Beyond the realm of mind,
Not to be discovered here
Within the old and weary grown
But somewhere in a distant sphere
Where the future lives, is yet unknown,
Yet take a leap, with vision brave
Look into what has not been,
Perhaps once freed as nature's slave
We will see the once unseen
And know the difference `twixt false and true
When faced with the present's confusing hues,
Life is simple when love is true,
The heart is strong, and you are You!
To live Again
Gently washing over me
Silent waves of memory,
Thoughts of days and nights of bliss
As if born of love's first kiss,
Truly are we blessed on earth
One above endowing mirth
In our very limbs - thoughts
Come from nowhere, heaven-wrought,
Giving greater flight to life,
Easing tensions and the strife
Which we're all so burdened by
Because we haven't learnt to fly,
Spirits trapped in ego-mould
Must remember days of gold!
A day will come when we will be
Spirits freed from memories
Of wordly pain and suffering
On purity and unknowing -
We will go to greater heights
Of happiness, the golden light
Of living in another way,
A truly neverending day
Where past, present, future merge,
Eternal peace replace the urge
To fall, repeat the old and worn,
The bliss of old regain the dawn
Of paradise, here on earth,
Forever new what must take birth!
The Final Outcome
If all else fails
The spirit will survive
Against the odds, against the tide
Of death and destruction;
Truth will live to see
Another day, the dawn
Of a great new age
Far greater than witnessed
In the history of the earth.
Many have seen, as many see now,
The coming of such a time
Imminent upon us -
Love will break all barriers
And spread across the globe
With a force surpassing that
Of a nuclear holocaust, destroying
All and everything it cannot embrace
While absorbing all that it can.
Earth and mankind will be transformed
By the miracle of an immense and sudden change
Into a new way of thinking and being ,
The nightmare of the earth will be over,
The dream of the spirit realised,
Time, standing still, will explode
Into the timeless - This is our tomorrow!
Soul Morning
I'm crying, I'm crying
Like a spirit dying,
I'm sighing, I'm sighing
Like a man trying
To do the right thing
But failing to bring
Peace to the soul,
I'm trapped in a hole
Resembling, you know,
The place you don't go....
Still there is hope
On the slippery slopes
Of life in the deeps,
Like waking from sleep
A voice never dies,
The flame of the wise
Is a power beyond all,
Real is the call
Of the chosen at birth
To be free from the earth,
Her nature transform
From the old and the norm
That a new world be born,
Their birth is the dawn!
True Love over All
Even the deepest tears
Are tears for the things we're meant to lose.
The ego attempts to outsize the infinite universe,
This is the saddest phenomenon in creation.
Simplicity, humility, detachment,
Whatever happened to these attributes of greatness?
Pride is a disposable commodity, the ultimate
Defence mechanism against the Truth,
The Beauty of a future
Unknown but guaranteed, unseen yet felt
To be the way, the one and only way
To the everlasting victory of mind over matter,
Soul over body, heart over vanity,
Union over loneliness, true love over all.
India Calling
India, O India!
Land of my birth and my spiritual home
Where I tasted freedom, was never alone.
India,
Where so many lifetimes recall
Memories eternal, soul-barriers fall.
India,
Friend and lover and mate,
Woman and mother and guide of my fate!
To you
I return, the dream to fulfill
Of the silent explosion, the immortal Will
Of a world
To receive the Light that will bring
A New Life, a new way, a new song to sing!
Sacred Ancestors
One can only pray that time
Will heal the festered wounds of crimes
Committed by the Ego's ways,
There seems no end to lesser days
In which to wallow in the past,
The hope is there for Love to last
Beyond the Ignorance of men,
One sees the flicker now and then
Of the flame of faith; Can we
Survive the present to be free
Enough to do the Work at hand,
Can we go on to understand
Life is simple when the true
Union of the me and you
Is practised, innocence the key
To the great Humility
Receiving Here the higher light
Golden, liberating sight
Forever from the veil of Death,
Within us breathes another breath
Immortal, from the Heights come down
The ones who have prepared the ground
That we may share with them the Bliss
On the Earth that they have kissed!
Beyond Tomorrow
I desire
To be free
Of desire,
I aspire
To a life
That is higher!
I desire
To be free
Of the ego,
I aspire
To a life
Of the soul!
I desire
To be free
Of pain and sorrow,
I aspire
To a life
Beyond tomorrow!
Mirra Alfassa
You became
What you had seen,
What you became
No more a dream.
How beautiful you were
For those who saw,
So soft and beautiful
Your eyes, the doors
Of heaven, opened
Were all hearts
That looked upon you,
Minds a part
Of one great ocean
That was You,
How beautiful you were,
God was You!
