Education is as vital for socio-economic development as breathing for survival.Meaningful community participation based on interaction and networking for mutually beneficial partnership between school and community is an integral part of educational reforms all over the world. The present study was an effort leading toward appraisal of existing practices of community participation in the management of public sector educational institutions. It was found through this study that all the stakeholders were of the view that community participation programmer are helpful for management of public sector educational institutions. However, certain problems indicated by the stakeholders hindering community participation were illiteracy, poverty, lack of resources, communication gap and political involvement in the school affairs. A Community Participation Management Model is proposed for better community participation where it may be applicable
