After thirty years as a business executive, including positions at Arthur Anderson, Dain Rauscher, Dayton-Hudson, and Pillsbury, John Schwarz took early retirement to attend seminary. Already holding dual bachelor degrees from the University of Minnesota and a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, Schwarz added a Masters in Christian Studies from Regent College to his education background.

From seminary, Schwarz moved to Africa where he served as a missionary. Upon returning to the United States, he began the undertaking of converting years of notes and writings that had been Bible study courses into one unique book-The Compact Guide to the Christian Faith.

Designed for both group and individual use, the book presents a ten-lesson study of the foundational information crucial to an understanding of Christianity. From church history to the message of the Gospel and Jesus' life to an introduction to other world religions, the book is a one-stop resource for people who are serious about understanding their faith.

Apart from writing, Schwarz continues a busy life in the community. He is the Founder and President of the Kenya Children's Fund, a member of the Minnesota Bar Association, a director for TURN Leadership Foundation serving the metropolis of the Twin Cities, a director for the Lupus Foundation, and the President and Founder of the Tabgha Foundation which assists in the design, development, and production of video-assisted Christian education materials.

Father of six adult children and grandfather to ten, Schwarz lives outside of the Twin Cities with his wife, Barbara.
