This book is the result of extensive research by the author into the relative merits of various treatments for San Jose Scale, a destructive pest that has plagued fruit growers for centuries. The author begins by reviewing the history of San Jose Scale and its devastating effects on fruit trees, then details their own experiments comparing the effectiveness of various treatments. The main focus of the book is on the use of lime and sulphur mixtures to combat the scale, and the author provides detailed instructions for preparing and applying these solutions, along with a thorough analysis of their effectiveness. Ultimately the author concludes that simple lime and sulphur mixtures, applied in early spring, are the most effective and economical treatment for San Jose Scale. This book is an essential resource for fruit growers and anyone interested in the history and management of San Jose Scale. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
