Comparing Cultures: a Cooperative Approach to a Multicultural World

Designed to engage students in the study of cultures different from their own, this book of reproducible cooperative-learning activities looks at people from Bolivia, Canada, Russia, Korea, Australia, and Ghana. The similarities and differences in cultural development are explored through letters and other personal accounts. Activities acquaint students with social science concepts necessary to contrast various cultures, including customs, traditions, technology, and values. After studying the structures of modern societies, small groups of students are encouraged to create their own cultures, each with its own special language, customs, calculating system, clothing, and mode of transportation.
