Also includes A Brief Exposition of The Science of Mechanical Electricity by Hare. 1834/35, 511 total pages, 8.75 x 5.5 , 8vo, full leather hardcover. In good condition, with rubbing and wear to boards and spine. Hinges remain in good condition with minor wear and text block is bound well. Toning to pages and occasional staining to edges. Periodically illustrated with black-and-white sketches throughout. Ex-library from the Historical Society of Hartford County, Connecticut. Philadelphia bookseller ticket on top of front pastedown. A scarce piece by Robert Hare (1781-1858), an American chemist and lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, along with being devoted to spiritualism and communicating with the dead.
