About the Author
In 1972, Mr. Groenewege was appointed Director Traffic Services with overall responsibility for IATA passenger and cargo services, including airport handling and IATA Multilateral Interline Traffic Agreements. His responsibility as Secretary of the IATA Passenger and Cargo Services Conferences involved the establishment of international agreements, standards and practices, including supporting computer systems, to create an efficient and integrated world air transport system. Mr. Groenewege became Director Industry Affairs in 1982 to develop and implement new IATA membership services, and was instrumental in establishing the IATA Programme for Developing Nations Airlines (PDNA). Through PDNA, the IATA management and specialist training programme was launched in 1983, together with the IATA-sponsored International Airline Training Fund (IATF) to provide scholarships to airlines in developing countries.
Dick Groenewege has lectured throughout the world, written numerous papers on a wide range of airline subjects, and is also the co-author of the book Air Freight - Key to Greater Profit, published in 1964. Upon retirement from IATA, he established the International Aviation Development Corporation (IADC) to provide consultancy and training services, particularly to airlines in developing countries, and to develop new aviation concepts and products. In the past few years, the development and marketing of this Compendium has been his major undertaking.
