Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact, bar chips to top and/or bottom section of spine. Covers soiled, front bottom edge chipped with small pieces missing, foot of spine, bumped, bottom corners chipped, top corners lightly chipped, fore edge front cover chipped, a few pages have finger smudges in blank margin at fore edge. The plates feature a portrait of the artist (only 14 have portraits and examples of their work)and an example of his/her work, the text pages make up the Catalog for the Exhibition and lists the artist's name and what he illustrated for the Ladies Home Journal. From the Foreword: "Comparatively few people, in turning the pages of a modern book or magazine, realize the care and thought devoted to the preparation of illustrations. It is to be hoped that the present exhibition will offer an opportunity for a clearer conception of the true value of the illustrative art and the worthiness of current magazine illustration."
