12mo. 18cm, x,246p., text illustrations, sheet music, in mahogany morocco grain boxed cloth (French term for a treat boards made to look like calf), gilt spine titles, wear on the top edge of the spine, the text while clean is slightly toned, probably intentionally to indicate a facsimile of the 1653 edition, a very good to fine copy. (Spg). A facsimile reprint of a scarce first edition in the collection of British politician and collector, Robert Stayner Holford. With interesting reason given in editor's preface for the second page of music being upside down (as in original): printed on purpose to enable two persons to read the music standing face to face.
