"Bagster's Second Edition being the Eighth of this work with improvements and additions". The book is finely half bound in polished calf over marbled paper boards with five raised bands on the spine. Title in gilt on the spine and compartments tooled in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Top edges are dust-dulled. There is age-tanning and foxing throughout the book and the text and illustrations are generally clean and unmarked. The binding is square and firm. Names of previous owners in period script dated 1812 and 1847 on the page after the first free endpaper. Illustrated with 12 full page plate and 38 vignettes etched in black and white. Includes an index.
