What if some of the oldest and most remarkable Gospel manuscripts in the world were not preserved in Rome or Constantinople but in Africa?
For centuries, the Garima Gospels remained a quiet treasure, safeguarded within an Ethiopian monastery. Today, they stand as one of the earliest surviving illustrated Gospel books offering a powerful window into the origins of Christianity, the endurance of faith, and Africa’s often overlooked role in preserving sacred history.
In The Complete Book of the Garima Gospels, you will embark on a rich and eye-opening journey through time uncovering the story behind these extraordinary manuscripts and the world that produced them.
Inside This Book, You’ll Discover:
The mystery and origins of the Garima Gospels and why they matter today
How Christianity took root early in Africa, long before many assume
The life and tradition of Abba Garima and the legacy surrounding the manuscripts
The role of Ge’ez, Ethiopia’s sacred language, in preserving Scripture
The fascinating process of ancient manuscript creation from parchment to ink
The meaning behind the beautiful illuminated artwork and symbols
How these texts survived centuries through faith, discipline, and isolation
What modern scholars have discovered through scientific dating and research
The truth about biblical transmission, accuracy, and variations
Why Africa must be recognized as central not peripheral to early Christianity
Why This Book Matters
This is more than a historical study.
It is a rediscovery of a lost narrative one that challenges assumptions and reveals a broader, richer story of Christianity’s beginnings.
It is a testament to:

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone.
