Brown leather half-binding; light wear. Marbled boards. Binding tight, corners sharp, new endpapers. Original 18th century pp a little worn with some spotting, but generally in good condition. Unfortunately pp 335-338 have a small split in the vertical edge, and pp 339-357 are missing. A rare example of an early guide to haute cuisine; a useful byproduct are the glimpses of 18th century society provided. ; 12mo (4" x 7"); 338 pages.

Established in 1979 with a medium size stock, shop is in North London less than half an hour from West End. We are open Thursdays to Sundays 10,30. to 6.30, but telephone and computer usually manned daily. Named after Thoreau's book, not connected with the American book chain. We do feel that actually being able to see the books one is browsing is what bookselling or buying is all about and all of the the books offered are from our shop stock and may be viewed during shop hours or by arrangement when closed. We also stand at occasional book fairs. Please note only a small amount of our stock is on the website, we have over 10,000 titles in our shop, please let us know if you need any other books.
