She now works as a freelance designer mainly for Rowan, Jaeger, and Patons, but also for Colinette Yarns, Wendy, Twilleys and Sirdar. She both designs garments and works out technical problems. She has written more than eight books and contributed to many more, not only on crochet but also on knitting, sewing, and embroidery.
Luise Roberts was taught at an early age by her mother how to knit and sew. These skills have always been an outlet for her creative talents, and she has exhibited her work as an embroiderer. However, it was her degree in graphic design and earning a living designing books, in particular several knitting books, that rekindled her interest in crochet. With a new enthusiasm and fresh ideas, she is keen to convey this passion to others.
