Translated from the French. Bound in contemporary half calf with marbled boards. Lacking the original spine label. Rather worn, with some loss to the tail of the spine at the joint, boards rather rubbed and worn, as are the extremities, the leather drying in places. Lacking front free endpaper. Contemporary ownership inscriptions to the upper margin of title page. One leaf of publisher's advertisements to the rear; complete with two engraved maps, one of which with a large tear running through it. The binding is generally tight throughout, with occasional looseness and strains; the hinges are rather strained and worn, with remnants of tape repairs to the rear hinge. Leaves are a touch age-toned with the odd spot but generally clean. A good example of this uncommon dictionary of antiquities.
