About this title

Synopsis

Now in its seventh edition, The Complete Encyclopedia of Horse Racing is the authoritative and comprehensive illustrated reference to the sport.

Written by three acknowledged authorities, this complete encyclopedia tells the story of the "sport of kings" from its earliest inceptions to the present day, with essential information on all the top jockeys, trainers, leading owners, and most celebrated horses. Every personality (human and equine), event and issue of importance in the history of both flat racing and steeplechasing appears, along with information on the off-track world, gambling, scandals, disasters, social and cultural aspects, media coverage, and the business of racing. Revised and updated to include the latest crop of equine superstars, including Golden Horn and US Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, this visually dazzling book continues to be invaluable.
