1900. New Edition. 424 pages. Half bound brown leather with black cloth boards; gilt lettering to spine. Spine states volume I, but no indication internally that this is a specific volume. New edition augmented by W H Bolt. Contains several B&W plates and diagrams, some of which fold out. Pages are rather marked with pronounced tanning and foxing, plus thumbing. Slight gutter cracking. Front hinge very cracked and shaky. Small stamp to front endpaper. Edges of title page repaired. Some creasing and stains to plates. Boards have heavy edge wear, with intense bumping and peeling to corners, while spine ends are very crushed and worn. Joints worn too with heavy splits. Scratched, rubbed, stained and marked overall.
