The Complete Guide to Decorating Your Home: How to Become Your Own Interior Designer

This book begins with a seemingly unrealistic prediction: "I promise you'll never make another decorating mistake again." It then goes a long way toward providing all the information needed to make that prediction come true. In a very practical, packed series of chapters ranging from "The Basics of Good Design" to "Avoiding Decorating Mistakes," Kamen provides basic yet highly detailed instruction to the uninitiated. Particularly effective is a chapter on preparing a furniture plan with templates, a topic seldom covered. The author's West Coast perspective, so different from the limited East Coast/European perspective of many decorating books, is refreshing. Only a few photographs (eight in color) are included, but the many drawings are used effectively. With an extensive decorating dictionary. Recommended, particularly for the novice decorator.
