Extracted from the most celebrated English Historians, particularly Rapin, Tindal, Hume, and Smollett and calculated for the Instruction and Entertainment of the Youth of both sexes. 443 pp. with four out of twelve woodcut illustrations called for. There is no indication of other plates having been bound in. Professionally recased in half leather and marbled boards, a new spine label in black with gilt lettering, gilt lining and borders, internally tight, bright clean and unmarked. The final page has had the bottom margin removed but this does not affect the book text, just the final line of printer instructions on placing the plates. This was a popular educational book through the eighteenth century with editions printed by a variety of publishers. This edition by this printer appears to be fairly uncommon.
