Complete Keyboard Works Vol. Ii: Preludes, Toccatas, Fugues, and Canzonas

Preludes, Toccatas, Fugues, and Canzonas, Volume 2 of the four-volume series The Complete Keyboard Works by Dieterich Buxtehude, is some of the most influential Baroque keyboard music of its time, even influencing the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. With the aim of bringing this repertoire more firmly into the spotlight, the renowned scholar and editor Christoph Wolff has prepared a practical, performer-oriented edition based on the critical Buxtehude edition The Collected Works (Broude Trust; Consulting Editor: Michael Belotti). This volume offers pianists and organists a reliable, scholarly performance text and provides an authoritative and rewarding point of entry into Buxtehude’s keyboard music. It includes an informative preface in German and English, along with extensive source and performance notes and a table of ornaments.
