The text is based on a close re-examination of the earliest editions by John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester. His poems include love lyrics and poems of impotence, debauchery and erotic obsession. His satires examine a variety of themes - the vacuous social life of Tunbridge Wells, night-time activities in St James's Park and Charles II and his court.
