Two volume set. 30.5 x 21.5 cm. Quarto.xxxviii 322pp, viii 322pp. Bound into publisher's brown cloth with gilt and brown designs and lettering. Illustrated with 50 photogravures of the works of various artists including Westall, Bida, Fanfani, Flatters. The title page notes this as the India Proof Edition and the cover calls it the Fine Art Edition. TEG. Includes a Life of Milton, Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained and shorter poems, sonnets, psalms and translations. Stain to the bottom of the front free endpaper of volume one and effecting the pages through page xvi but not reaching text. Covers show some soiling and rubbing. Bindings feel shaken and weak but are holding. Some fraying to edges of cloth. Uncommon edition.
