Alesander Strahan & Co, London and Henry S. King, London. A set of six volumes incorporatating Complete Works of Tennyson. Marking the first appearance of the "Idylls" in 1873. All uniformily bound green cloth with gilt frame, blind stamp on rear, gilt on top edge. Corners little bumped in places; some edges worn. Evidence of previous bookplates on ep's; some foxing and tanning, and little leaning. A good and interesting set. Vols 1,3,4,5, published by Strahan; Vols 2 and 6 by S. King. (Strahan went bankrupt in 1873 after he published Vol 5.) and King took over. Volume One: ( xi) 374pp; 1872 (Strahan) with portrait frontis. Half title page states "The Works of Tennyson in FIVE Volumes" but Vol 2 - Vol 6 states in SIX Volumes. Vol 2 (King) vi, 293pp 1874; Vol 3 (Strahan) vi, 287pp, 1872; Vol 4 (Strahan) 311pp 1873; Vol 5 (Strahan) 274pp 1873; Vol 6 (King) 294pp + Epilogue To the Queen, 1874.
