Synopsis

This is the eighth volume of "The Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe", containing a collection of Poe's critical essays. Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an American author, editor, poet, and critic. Most famous for his stories of mystery and horror, he was one of the first American short story writers, and is widely considered to be the inventor of the detective fiction genre. Contents include: "William Ellery Channing", "J. Fenimore Cooper", "R. G. Horne", "Amelia Welby", "Elizabeth Barrett Barrett", "William W. Lord", "Some Secrets of the Magazine Prison-House", "Mr. Longfellow and Other Plagiarists", "Mr. Longfellow, Mr. Willis, and the Drama", "Elizabeth Gilmore Simms", and others.
